Ear cup

No. 0013

Date: Han Dynasty (206 BCE-220 CE)
Material: ceramic
Height: 1¾ inches (4.44 cm)
Width: 3¼ inches (8.25 cm)
Length: 4½ inches (11.43 cm)

This vessel is referred to as an ‘ear’ cup because of the slightly protruding handles that resemble ears on a head. The interior of the cup is partially glazed with a green color. The exterior is unglazed, with a few spots of green glazing. The sides of the cup are pinched to form the place where a thumb and a finger can hold the cup.
